About Innsmith
The Advantage Belongs to Real Places
AI has, so far, mostly made the biggest travel companies bigger — sharper pricing, wider reach, and more automation, all built at a scale only they can afford. The independent bed-and-breakfast down a back road, the family-run outfitter, the guide who knows the one trail worth taking — they've been left to compete with tools built for someone else's advantage.
Innsmith exists to shift that balance. We build AI-powered tools for travelers looking for the real and the unique, and for the operators of the places that make a trip worth taking — so the interesting, independent, and irreplaceable parts of the map aren't the ones left behind. Travel is about real people in the real world, and that's who we're building for.
Why We Started
The idea for Innsmith started on a motorcycle trip through Texas. My cousin and I were trying to book a room at a small bed-and-breakfast — we called, and called, and no one picked up. We'd already turned toward a chain hotel down the road when, by pure luck, the owner happened to be walking by on the sidewalk. She let us in, and it turned into one of the best stays of the whole trip.
It stuck with me afterward: the big chains can always take a reservation. Why can't the best, most interesting places do the same? That question became Innsmith.
Who's Building It
Over fifteen years building software for boutique central reservation systems, plus a decade building large multi-property resort PMS and timeshare systems. Earlier in his career, Jackson worked at technology pioneers including Netscape and Sun Microsystems.
